Misting Your Plants

This Week, on Plant Tip Tuesday...

We're talking about the benefits of misting your plants!

Most indoor tropical plants are native to humid areas and many appreciate light moisture on their leaves. Misting is beneficial when done once or twice a week, with tepid water. Depending on where you live, it may NOT increase ambient humidity, especially in dryer locations like Saskatchewan, but it is still beneficial!

Misting can prevent brown edges caused by low humidity. Plants can also absorb moisture through their leaves preventing dehydration. Regular misting will prevent dust build-up, letting the plant better absorb sunlight and oxygen. It may also help with insect infestations as some species, like spider mites, like dry environments.

Make sure to protect any delicate furniture before misting. If it's a plant that doesn't mind being temporarily moved, you can take it to the sink or shower.

Misting is another great tool in your plant maintenance toolbox!
