This Week, for Plant Tip Tuesday...
We're talking about plants that love to be kept in high-light locations!
If you are lucky enough to have a nice bright spot for plants, you’ll want to choose carefully. “Highlight areas” get direct sunlight for at least half a day and are likely a South or West-facing window.
Fine foliage and plants that have heavy watering needs will typically NOT do well in this type of environment. Thick fleshy leaves and thick juicy roots tend to do best, as well as colourful and variegated plants.
Highlight plants will dry out more quickly due to the increased light and the warmer environment.
Houseplants native to dryer aired regions such as South Africa and Australia are usually good options.
Here are some great highlight plant options:
- Cacti and Succulents
- Yucca
- Coffee Plants
- Most Ficus Varieties
- Bird of Paradise
- Philodendron Neon
- Olive Plants
High light can be a plant-tastic spot for the right plants!
